New Collection: Satsuma

Inspiration? Satsuma?……….I grew up on the Florida-Georgia border, in small towns that no one ever knows existed. On the Florida weekends, I’d spend my days running bare foot with my sisters at an old fishing camp on the St. Johns River that my dad bought in the early 70’s with the hopes of building it into a family retreat .  It sounds fancy, I know.

The camp was along an old Highway in Satsuma, Florida, Highway 17, that led to just about nowhere.  It was surrounded by cypress trees, canals full of alligators and water moccasins and trails that went on forever, but eventually opened up on the river (if you could make it that far without being chased by wild hogs that ruled the forest).

The patterns for this collection  are inspired by that place-now gone from the family, but vivid in my memory.
